Airplanes
World War 1 caused a huge step in technology. One of the biggest advancements was probably the introduction of aerial warfare. The first planes were being used for aerial attacks, and provided extra help for troops on the ground. The interrupter gear was a German invention that made it so the pilot could use a machine gun equipped behind the propeller. This was a key invention that revolutionized aerial warfare.
ZEPPELINS
The zeppelin was an airship that could be flown and used for bombing raids. The Germans were the lead producer of zeppelins. They used these to do fly over bombings, like on British cities. These were a great technology from World War 1 because of their ability to go over enemy territory and bomb whatever is below them.
Tanks
Tanks have forever changed warfare due to their astounding abilities to shoot long range and blow up targets, all while deflecting gunfire with its tough armor. The tank was not first thought of in World War 1, but it was first used then. People as early as 1890 had the idea for a tank, but authorities had no interest, until the idea of a tank became useful in trench warfare situations.
Submarines
World War 1 was the first war submarines were used in. They were first used in World War 1 by the Germans. The Germans used what they called "U-boats" to blockade the waters around Britain. They hoped to starve them of supplies, which would have been a great war strategy. Retaliation from the British helped keep the Submarines down by using the first active and passive sonars. These helped detect where the ships were, and then they attacked them using anti-submarine weapons.
